Nadia Elena Comaneci

Her name gained international attention and praise by giving the world one of the most memorable moments in sports history when she scored the first ever perfect ten on asymmetric bars during the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. To top it off the six perfect tens. She also became the most youthful Olympic gold medallist. Not only did Nadia Comaneci draw attention from all directions, but she also helped Romania get its place on the global map. This sporting icon stepped into limelight after she scored an impossible result, becoming a hero and spreading the word about gymnastics as a game all over the globe. People's perception of women athletes was changed due to the feat. The reason for this was the effect she made during the Olympics, that both the moves toe-on (toes on) and the release move were named in her honor. These two moves have been regarded, until today, as difficult. Apart from the Olympics, she also showed impressive performance at each of the World Championships & European Championships. As a result, she became an iconic gymnast as well as one of the greatest athletes that the world has ever witnessed. Also, she modelled and promoted sporting gear following her having moved to the US. Nadia Nadia Nadia Nadia 2 Nadia
